Author Interview with Rigon Grimoire

We’re delighted to feature Rigon Grimoire, a storyteller who blends magic, emotion, and real-world detail into captivating fantasy tales. In this interview, Rigon shares his journey from collaborative beginnings to solo publishing success, along with the inspiration behind his unicorn series, writing process, and love for strong book cover design.

Rigon Grimoire

Tell us a little about yourself. How did you get into writing?

Answer:
I started writing in 2011, together with a fellow author. That’s when I discovered that it was possible to self-publish books – something I found exciting because I’ve always loved storytelling.
We used to meet weekly in a café and wrote stories under the pseudonym Lady Grimoire, mainly children’s books. Unfortunately, the collaboration didn’t work out long-term, and since we shared 50/50 rights to the books, I had to remove them from sale.
Eventually, I decided to go my own way and started publishing books entirely on my own – my ideas, my covers, my stories. Since around 2023, I’ve been publishing under the pen name Rigon Grimoire.

Lichter und Legenden

What inspired you to write your current book?

Answer:
Honestly? The cover! I bought the stunning cover for “Lichter und Legenden: Ein Einhorn in New York” more than two years ago from Paramita – it just spoke to me.
At that time, I didn’t even have a story in mind. The idea finally came to me around Christmas 2024, and that’s when I started writing. So in a way, the story was created for the cover, and I’m so happy that readers are enjoying it now.

If you had to describe your book in three words, what would they be?

Answer:
Love. Freedom. Choice.
Because no one should be forced to love someone or stay in a relationship out of tradition or pressure. Everyone deserves to follow their heart and choose love freely.

Do you have a favorite scene or a special moment in the book? (No spoilers unless you want to!)

Answer:
Absolutely! There’s a scene in a library where Lyria sees a unicorn on the cover of a children’s book and is completely fascinated – wondering how humans could know what unicorns look like.
It’s such a funny, magical moment – and then something unexpected happens that reveals her true form. I love that scene because it’s dramatic, funny, and full of wonder.
Of course, there are lots of other great moments too – including humorous ones – but this one really sticks with me.

What was the biggest challenge when writing the book?

Answer:
For me, consistency and logic are really important. Every detail – from places to actions – has to make sense.
With the help of ChatGPT, I made sure that escape routes were realistic, that locations actually existed (like real hospitals in the right area), and that readers could verify those places if they wanted to.
Even the dialogues go through several rounds – I read them aloud to check the tone and make sure characters sound natural. Especially for child characters, I adjust the language to make it believable.

book 2

What do you hope readers take away from your story?

Answer:
I want readers to feel encouraged to listen to their own hearts – especially when it comes to love.
In my story, Lyria is forced into an arranged marriage with someone she doesn’t love. Even her parents insist on it. But she chooses to escape because she knows love can’t be forced.
That’s what I hope readers remember: You deserve to love freely and be loved for who you truly are.

Do you have a writing routine, or do you write when inspiration strikes?

Answer:
I don’t have a strict routine – and I’m okay with that. I take breaks when I need to, and I don’t pressure myself with deadlines since I self-publish.
Inspiration comes and goes, but when it hits, I always write it down immediately – often on my phone. Even if the idea doesn’t fit my current story, it might be perfect for a future one. So: always take notes!

What’s one piece of advice you’d give aspiring authors?

Answer:
Take notes. Always. Ideas can be fleeting.
Also, don’t give up when you hit a wall. Everyone experiences writer’s block – take a break if needed, but keep going.
Once your draft is finished, revise it carefully. Edit for repeated words, grammar, tone – and ideally, work with a proofreader.
And please: don’t underestimate the power of a great cover! It’s the first thing a reader sees, and if the cover doesn’t grab them, they’ll scroll past. A strong, eye-catching cover is essential.

How important are book covers to you, and what was your experience creating yours?

Answer:
Covers are extremely important to me – they’re the gateway to the story.
I work with Paramita for most of my covers and absolutely love the collaboration. Her work is beautiful, creative, and professional – and I always feel supported as an author.
I recommend Paramita to any writer looking for a stunning cover. There are also lots of premade options that are affordable and high-quality. I truly believe everyone can find something that fits their story there.

Where can readers find you and your books?

Answer:
My books are available on all major platforms – Amazon, Thalia, Hugendubel, Google Play, Apple Books and more.
However, my unicorn series – “Lichter und Legenden: Ein Einhorn in New York” and its sequel “Herzklang der Magie” – are Amazon exclusives, available through Kindle Unlimited so readers can also read them for free.
I also released a professionally produced audiobook for kids 12+, which is available on multiple platforms.
